Karen Klages

Project Manager

Karen was 7 years old when she decided she wanted to go to work picking berries with her older brother and sister to make some spending money. It took a bit of persuading to talk her parents into letting her go because they thought she was too young. That first summer she ate more berries than made it to market. By 8th grade she was quite proficient and was able to take a trip to Hawaii using  her berry picking earnings. Karen believes it is important to work hard and explore new places, people, ideas, and points of view. She welcomes new experiences and enjoys her job as Project Manager at America's Foundation for Chess.
