Over 1.5 million kids have learned chess through First Move - and we're just getting started.

In 2000, America's Foundation for Chess tackled a challenge:  how do you teach chess in classrtooms without overwhelming teachers or boring students?  After three years of development, First Move was born - a program so effective and easy to implement that it revolutionized chess education.

Since launching in 2003, First Move has brought the joy of chess to over 1.5 million children nationwide. 

Now, the newly establish First Move Chess Foundation is taking it further.  We've updated our proven curriculum and expanded beyond traditional classrooms to reach hmeschools and families everywhere. 

Our mission:  bring chess to one million more children.
